September Holidays

Hi everyone great to be able to write again. I am in September holidays and it is Spring here at the moment. As I write this I am sitting and drinking cold water. It is wonderful to be able to step outside of winter and I am just waiting for summer to arrive! Some of you maybe in autumn right now, though I hope you enjoyed your summer. I have not done much interesting stuff so far but I am going to the mountains on the weekend and I promise to take some pics! I got my braces changed the other day and because I got a new wire they have been hurting a lot. My house is very messy right now. So many unwanted things and clutter, I hope to be able to clean up these holidays.

My Holiday To Do List...
  • Spend as much time as I can in nature.
  • Be a bit creative and do some art.
  • Go op shopping.
  • Hang out with friends
  • Athletics training.
  • Read
  • Watch interesting TV shows I enjoy (Horrible Histories, please don't judge me I love history).
  • Spend time with family.
  • BLOG - This is a must do. I will try and blog about all these things that I do.

My sister and I last year

Thanks for reading. What have you got planned for the holidays and if you have already had your holidays what did you do? Let me know in the comments.

Quirky Recipe - Veggie and Tuna Pasta

Hi again everyone. On Thursday night I let my cooking self be free and I made dinner for mum. I decided to make something healthy and nutritious.

Ingredients:

  • Pasta or spaghetti (I used gluten free pasta)
  • Tomato pesto
  • Kalamata olives
  • Tomatoes/cherry tomatoes
  • One zucchini.
  • Half a head of a broccoli
  • Rocket (as much as you want)
  • Olive and rice bran oil

Method:

Step 1: Cut up the veggies and olives and separate them into piles of each veggie ready to be placed in the pan.

Step 2: Boil a large pot of water ready to cook the pasta. Add the pasta during preparation, depending how long it takes to cook. Meanwhile pour some oil into the pan and wait until heated. Place the broccoli into the pan and cook until slightly soft.

Step 4: Now add the zucchini to the pan and continue to cook.

Step 5: Add the Tomatoes and olives to the pan. Cook until the tomato begins to soften and make a sauce.

Step 6:Add the rocket to the pan and mix until wilted.

Step 7: Finally add the tuna. Add a splash of water and mix well and simmer over a very low heat, while the pasta finishes cooking.

Step 8: Drain the pasta and add a few spoons of pesto and mix through.

Step 9: Add the veggie mix to the pasta, mix through, serve and enjoy immediately.

The Importance of Nature

Hi again. Today I am lazing in the afternoon sun gazing up at the sky, watching the clouds form their shape over and over again. It is nice to feel nature around me. I can hear the wind rustle the trees and the buzzing bees. The blue sky makes me feel cool and calm and the ground beneath me feels solid and still, like nothing is moving, but the sky feels full of energy. Of course that is an illusion because the ground is also full of life and movement of all kinds imaginable. Ants, worms, bugs and simply the grass growing its own way.

The environment is so magnificent yet... it won't be magnificent forever if we don't stop to think of how we can take care of it. We need to stop burning fossil fuels, take care of our water supply and consider using less rather than always wanting more, more more.

So Much to Tell You by John Marsden

Hi again. Today I am doing a book recommendation for the book 'So Much to Tell You', by John Marsden. It is a story about a mute girl who writes a diary and the story is told through her diary entries. It is a story that teaches you about empathy, relationships, communication and dealing with difficulties. I like this book because it has a lot of emotion and feelings in it making it enjoyable to read. The book does have certain mild themes considering the character is fourteen. I really like this book and I would recommend it for children from 11 years and older.

"She has thoughts. She has feelings. But she has no voice."

Rating: ***** 5/5 stars
Age: 11 years and up
Quality: A high quality book that has a lot to teach people.

Thanks for reading, please try this book. I hope you enjoy it.

Quirky Quote

" I keep  telling myself that I'm a human being, an imperfect human being who's not made to look like a doll, and that who I am as a person is more important than whether at that moment I have a nice figure"

Emma Watson

Personally I think Emma Watson is a very inspiring woman. She is passionate about what she believes and this quote is a message a lot of people need. What are your thoughts?

Robotics and Why Smart is the New Cool

Hi again. Today I thought I would tell you a little bit about the technology side of stuff I do at school. So basically I am in a club called the Innovation Cell. We use EV3 robots and work in groups. Some people might think that robotics is a bit 'nerdy' but they may not realise that 'smart' is the new 'cool'. By the time we finish school, a lot of jobs will involve either working alongside, or programming robots. And technology isn't just for boys. It's lots of fun and gets your brain active. The robot below is called Fifi.

Our robot Fifi
Fifi is not as detailed as some of the EV3s we have. We do learning missions and challenges to exercise our brains and learn about programming. Recently we have been doing the space challenge. Check out the video below showing one of our attempts.

Our attempt at the space challenge.

The next video is from an organisation called Boston Dynamics. Their robots are amazing. Have a look at what this one can do.

Check out this video what a neat robot

Does your school have a robotics or technology club? If so, you should get involved. Here are four great reasons why:

  1. Technology is a great brain exercise and will help you get smarter.
  2. You'll be able to impress people with your cool skills.
  3. You will be gaining knowledge that will help you once you finish school.
  4. You will have lots of fun.

Don't forget...smart is the new cool, always look for ways to learn new things and use your brain.

Crochet and the Art of Chilling Out

Hi Guys today I am chilling out on my bed which is covered in a awesome granny crochet blanket. I am also wearing a crochet poncho and I have crochet slippers which are excellent for relaxing in winter. I actually picked up these treasures in an op shop, what a find! The slippers are really comfortable and just slip over your feet. The poncho does a great job of keeping you warm and the blanket looks great on a bed for decoration.

In this photo you can see what the slippers look like when they are on. I am reading Friday Barnes which is one of my all time fave series. So why don't you try chilling out one weekend. Grab your favourite book and find a spot to just relax and chill out. It is fun!
