Problems and Opportunities

Sometimes a problem is just a gravity problem. Some of you may be wondering what I actually mean by this. Let me tell you a story...

There was a man who was out wandering to fetch some water for his family. The well was at the top of a hill. When he started to climb the hill he complained... "Oh why do I have to be so heavy? Why is it so hard to walk up a hill? Why does gravity have to exist?"

No matter what the man says or does he cannot change the fact that gravity exists. You may wonder why I am telling you this. Well, my mum told me this story when I was complaining about not doing well in a running competition because I was shorter than the other girls my age and couldn't keep up. No matter how much I whinge about it I can't change the size I am. A bit like gravity, some challenges will always be there and no matter what you do or say. So okay, I am too small to be in the Olympics. How can I overcome that? I can train to become better but that may just lead to disappointment. So perhaps the best solution is to compete with myself rather than comparing myself to others.

Sometimes when you wish things were different to the way they are, you end up miserable because you can't be or have what you want. So remember if you are feeling frustrated or something is... 'not fair' sometimes it is a gravity problem. Rather than fighting against  the thing that can't be changed, try looking for opportunities instead. Sometimes things not working out can open the door for something new that you hadn't even imagined was possible.

This is one of my favourite quotes.
I hope you guys had a good weekend!

  3. Thanks for posting that Fizzy! It's really inspirational and it really makes me think back to the times when I whinge and blame my faults on other people when I know that it could have been my mistake and that I should have grabbed an opportunity to change it :)
